Baile Felix (Felix Baths)Baile Felix is a thermal spa resort in Transylvania, western Romania. The resort is open all year round, it is the current largest and most qualitative in the country and is located near Oradea, a major and important city in the west of the country.

A large range of treatments and attractions are available, including spas, saunas, aerosols, paraffin packaging, galvanic baths, aqua gyms, warm mud baths, hydrotherapy, fitness centers, mud-application programmes, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and thermal water hydro-massage.

The discovery of the thermal waters here is controverted, with people saying that they’ve been discovered anywhere between years 1000 and 1700. However, it is known that in 1771 the basin was rebuilt, from wood to stone. The resort started to develop to high standards in 1885, when the first modern drilling to the main spring was performed. Moreover, the waters here obtained a gold medal in 1896 at a world exhibition. The symbol of the resort is the lotus flower, also called the “Thermal Water Lily”.

The waters contain a mixture of oligominerals and sapropels, including bicarbonate, sulfur, calcium, sodium and silicon, thanks to which, they help calm rheumatic pains as well as some paralytic, nervous and gynecological disorders.

A high variety of hotels and pensions are available in Baile Felix, starting with two stars and up to five stars, including a hotel which is an internationally renowned spa center, having attained the EuropeSpa med logo, offered by the European Spas Association. Also, a number of hotels in the resort offer wine-tasting programmes.
